DID YOU RESCUE AN ANIMAL?
If you are contacting us because you rescued an animal, please note the following:
1. We are a charity organization, and function purely on donations.
2. We have been in the process of downsizing the Shelter since January 2010. Spaces at the Shelter are limited to animals who are severely injured and/or abused.
Bringing the animal to S.P.A.R.E. 1. If you found an animal and would like to bring it to S.P.A.R.E. please note that you are required to be financially responsible for the animal. That means paying for first check up, as well as treatment, vaccination, spay/neuter operation, de-worming, de-fleaing. You are also required to sponsor the animal until we find it a home.
Sponsorship fees: Dogs: 100 L.E. per month; Cats: 80 L.E. per month; Donkeys: 50 L.E. per month
2. Should the animal find a home abroad, you are required to cover the costs. You will be reimbursed for the crate fees
Fostering the Animal in Your Home 1. We can assist you in placing the animal in a home by posting its picture on our website free of charge
2. We can also provide treatment (including vaccinations, deworming etc) for the animal at reduced prices
3. If the animal needs to stay at the Shelter for treatment, we charge 10 L.E. per day, with added medical costs added to that to be decided upon with S.P.A.R.E.'s veterinarian at the time of your visit
4. Should the animal be placed in a home abroad, we can assist you in the process

The S.P.A.R.E. shelter is located in Shubramant on the Sakkara Road. It’s about 20 minutes from Downtown Cairo, depending on the traffic.
It is not difficult to find, but if you are not sure you can find it, please call the Shelter for more specific details +(202) 3381 3855.
By Taxi Shubramant is the name of the area on the Sakkara Road that the Shelter is located in. If you are taking a taxi and you do not speak Arabic, tell the taxi driver “Shubramant, Tareek Sakkara (transl: Shubramant, Sakkara Road)”
If you have a mobile phone, you can call the Shelter from the taxi and a S.P.A.R.E. employee will explain to the taxi driver the directions.
Driving Take the Mounib Bridge so that you’re driving in the direction of the Pyramids. You are on the Ring Road.
You should be heading towards Sakkara.
As you get closer to Mariotiyya Canal (“Tir’it Mariotiyya”), which will be perpendicular in front of you, you will see an exit off the Ring Road to the right before the canal.
DO NOT take this first exit.
Cross the canal and take the exit immediately to your right, which will curve down around, so that you are on the Sakkara Road heading in the direction of Shubramant and the Sakkara Pyramids.
Stay on this road for about 15 minutes.
You should be on the opposite side of Cataract Hotel and Resort.
You will pass many restaurants, such as Al-Dar Restaurant and Le Caire Restaurant.
You will see the tall minaret of a mosque on the corner to the right. Take that right.
There are several road signs at the intersection, including one for S.P.A.R.E. and marking the street of the home of Ahmed Farraj.
Just 100 meters down on your right is the entrance to S.P.A.R.E., which is a large yellow gate and the entire front of the property is lined by flowers.
