Gamila was abandoned because she didn’t conform to German Shepherd breed standards. We named her Gamila because she is gamila (Gamila means beautiful in Arabic). She is a 3 year old female German Shepherd. Gamila was left at S.P.A.R.E. when she was “diagnosed” with a “congenital deformity”: her head isn’t shaped like other dogs of her breed, and she has three paw pads and three claws on one foot. Her owners were going to abandon her to the streets of Cairo, but a young girl contacted S.P.A.R.E. who rescued the dog.
